Science Explorations Online Investigations

Science Explorations is a series of online investigations featuring the latest scientific discoveries of the Museum's experts. Science Explorations is a collaboration between the Museum and Scholastic, the global children's publishing, education, and media company, created to promote science literacy among students in grades 3 through 10. Check out investigations on animal adaptation, insects, space, bats, and giant squid.

Seminars on Science offers award-winning online courses in the life, Earth, and physical sciences. Designed by the Museum for K-12 educators, each six-week course immerses the learner in an area of contemporary research. Educators come away with a deeper understanding of both the science and the tools of scientific inquiry as well as an array of classroom resources. Courses are taught and led by Museum scientists and educators and feature rich web-based discussions. They are easy to use and flexible enough to fit into a teacher's busy schedule.

The eight available Summer courses include Earth: Inside and Out, as well as The Ocean System, Space, Time and Motion, The Diversity of Fishes and Genetics, Genomics, Genethics. Earth: Inside and Out is one of the program's most popular courses, encompassing Earth science topics from plate tectonics and geologic time to climate change and mantle convection. Free sample resources are available for each course on the new Seminars website.

Graduate credit is available from a number of major institutions (see website for details) and may meet your local professional development requirements. Internet access is required, and 24-hour technical support is always available. Summer semesters run June 12 - July 23 and July 3 - August 13.
