Ever wonder what it would be like to learn alongside the world's top scientists? Take a Graduate Credit course in science from the American Museum of Natural History.
Seminars on Science offers award-winning online courses in the life, Earth, and physical sciences. Designed by the Museum for K-12 educators, each six-week course immerses the learner in an area of contemporary research. Educators come away with a deeper understanding of both the science and the tools of scientific inquiry as well as an array of classroom resources. Courses are co-taught and led by Museum scientists and educators and feature rich web-based discussions.
The five courses available this Fall are: Earth: Inside and Out; The Ocean System; Genetics, Genomics, Genethics; The Link Between Dinosaurs and Birds, and Space, Time and Motion. Genetics, Genomics, Genethics is one of the program's
most popular courses, developed by AMNH staff scientist Rob DeSalle and former biology fellow Claudia Englbrecht. It encompasses topics from Gregor Mendel to the Human Genome Project to the
ethics of cloning. Check out a video explaining how scientists duplicate DNA as well as other sample resources at the course website: http://learn.amnh.org/genetics
