Discovery Room for K-2 School Groups

The Discovery Room is a great way to introduce the wonders of the museum to your K-2 students! The Museum is filled with rich scientific knowledge, priceless artifacts and amazing collections from all over the world. Begin your experience with hands-on exploration in a quiet, safe, and immersive exhibition space. The program is one-hour in length and introduces teachers, students, and parent/caregivers to the nature of science, the tools scientists use and shared-inquiry investigations.

Student Activities:

  • Experience a guided exploration of the process of fossilization
  • Excavate dinosaur fossils on a paleontology dig site and reconstruct the skeleton of a 14 foot prehistoric reptile
  • Grab their imaginary observation binoculars and survey wildlife in a replica of an African Baobab tree
