Assistant Curator, Marine Invertebrate Systematist
The Assistant Curator will be expected to develop an externally funded research program in systematics and/or phylogenetics of invertebrates including field work and the use of diverse character systems (such as development) and ability to oversee relevant segments of museum collections and staff. Areas of taxon research focus can include any metazoan marine invertebrate group. Must have a strong commitment to the use and continued development of museum collections as a complement to their research programs. The ideal candidate must submit an application via curriculum vitae, statement of research interests and goals, teaching statement for graduate instruction in the AMNH Richard Gilder Graduate School, and copies of publications relevant to the application, and names and contact information of at least three individuals able to comment on the capabilities of the candidate.

Assistant, Event & Conference Services
The Assistant, Event & Conference Services is responsible for supporting the department in all aspects of general office work. Responsibilities include: screening calls, assisting in projects, calendar management, preparing reports and financial data, daily mail pick-up and deliveries, and other related duties as assigned. Bachelor's degree; secretarial training and/or experience are required. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Candidates must have strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet research skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients required.

Associate Buyer, Retail
Assist Buyer in the day-to-day operational responsibilities of running a retail buying office with the emphasis on tracking of orders, report preparation, and responsibility for the actual buying of one specific department or classification; other duties as required. BA degree, preferably in Business or Marketing; at least one year's experience in a retail buying office; computer literate; experience with giftware and mineral specimens a plus.

Biodiversity Specialist
The Biodiversity Informatics Specialist will assist in the implementation of a program applying remote sensing, GIS, and modeling to biodiversity conservation. Responsibilities of this job include data management, data processing and visualization (raster, vector, and tabular), species distribution modeling, provision of technical and scientific training for staff and partner institutions, and maintenance of lab hardware and software resources (data, computers, and equipment). Some travel for fieldwork and training will be required. Candidates should have a Master's degree or equivalent, and advanced experience in remote sensing and GIS applications to biology &ndash and/or conservation and or wildlife management-related projects. Working knowledge of more than one of the following software packages is preferred: ERDAS, ENVI, ARC/INFO, ArcView and open source alternatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in conservation biology and remote sensing. Technical skills in database design and management, programming and scripting languages, systems administration, and GPS technology would be an advantage.

Cleaning Supervisor, Custodial Services
Responsible for managing a team of 15-20 cleaners; ensuring all daily assignments are completed and up to standard; Monitor staff attendance; Plan and schedule project work; Perform routine inspection throughout areas of responsibility; Acts as liaison for the department with museum staff and visitors; Conduct training classes with; Control supply and equipment distribution and collection. Associates degree preferred; Five (5) years housekeeping experience; strong managerial skills; knowledge of cleaning procedures, OSHA, and waste removal; excellent communication skills; good computer skills; ability to multi-task, problem solve and work well under pressure.

Development Associate, Special Projects
Support the functions of the Executive and Finance Team of the Development Office. The position will be responsible for a number of administrative tasks, including but not limited to: meeting management and coordination, writing assignments, assisting in the creation of financial and donor reports, database management, donor/prospect research as needed, and various administrative duties. Bachelor's Degree required; Strong organizational and computer skills. Creative thinking, and drive; Formal writing ability, excel skills, database mgmt., familiarity with fundraising and how it is done. Knowledge of accounting processes and donor software.

Exhibition Travel Project Coordinator, Business Development
The Exhibition Travel Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Exhibition Travel Project Manager as well as the Director of Exhibition Project Management with administrative tasks and coordinating exhibition projects and tasks. Must have experience working in a fast paced environment coordinating projects. Strong communicational & organizational skills; Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one (1) year experience desirable in one of following areas: museum studies, humanities/science project management, business, and non-profit administration. Excellent time management skills, strong writing skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong interest and knowledge of non-for-profit organizations is a plus.

Meeting & Events Manager, Government Relations
Provide support to the Senior VP of Government Relations & Education, and, as needed, other Museum officers; Plan all events in the Government Relations and Education departments; Initiate and provide logistical support for all other events; Prepare guest lists and coordinate invitation mailings; Track RSVPs and distribute guest lists to appropriate staff; Prepare and distribute work orders for events; Track all invoices and expense receipts; Liaise between departments to create event calendars and promote interdepartmental event opportunities. Bachelor's degree required; Two (2) years experience in nonprofit educational, cultural, research, or higher education institution preferred; Strong organizational, communications, interpersonal skills, with close attention to detail; Good writing skills very important; Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in fast-paced team environment, often under deadline and rapid turn around pressure; Proficiency in standard word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database applications.

Moveable Museum Education, Education
The Moveable Museum Educator will coordinate daily outreach programming; Operation and light maintenance of a 37' museum vehicle; primarily teaching paleontology content; Delivering pre-visit teacher workshops; Maintaining special project contacts and communication; Generating monthly reports; Researching and developing curriculum; Bachelor's Degree. Preferred are candidates with an advanced degree in earth science, geology or education. Previous museum education, outreach education, or NYC classroom teaching experience a must; experience with hands-on science curriculum; professional development, and urban populations. A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required.

PT Membership Assistants
Sales and customer service experience; familiarity with computer software; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The Visitor Services Representatives are required to provide high quality and friendly service to visitors of the Museum to ensure a pleasant experience. Requirements include, but are not limited to: Greeting visitors in a friendly manner, processing all transactions quickly and effectively. Prior sales, customer service and experience working with the public preferred. Familiarity with computer software helpful. Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Prior handling cash and cash register equipment strongly preferred.

Permanent Collections Registrar, Office of the Registrar
The Permanent Collections Registrar supports collections staff and other museum departments by reviewing, approving, and consulting on accessions and de-accessions; generating collection reports; managing all aspects of external exhibition loan requests; and assisting with the transfer of repatriated collections; Manage all aspects of external exhibition loans from the Permanent Collection, including: generating loan agreements, insurance certificates, condition reports, and receipts; coordinating crating, shipping, photography, and conservation; apply for permits, etc; Review, approve, and document accessions and de-accessions for all scientific departments; maintain records in electronic and paper form; advise collections staff on accession and de-accession policy and procedures; Assist Cultural Resources Office with repatriations, including: creation of material transfer contracts; planning and execution of packing and shipping of repatriated material; Generate quarterly and annual collection reports on accessions and de-accessions as required by Associate Dean of Science, Development, Legal, etc. Bachelor's Degree is required; Concentration in Museum Studies, Anthropology, Science, or other related field preferred; At least seven years experience working with museum collections; Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage shifting priorities, tight deadlines, and multiple projects.

Researcher, Exhibition
Seeking a highly organized and self motivated individual to assist the exhibition department in researching, sourcing, and identifying objects for temporary exhibitions. This individual would be responsible for creating and maintaining databases, making requests, creating reports, original research, imaging objects, and maintaining records and files. Graduate studies in material culture, social history, anthropology, or decorative arts desired but not required.

Safety Coordinator, Human Resources
Reports to the Director of Environmental Health & Safety and is responsible for providing assistance in the areas of safety training and procedures, project development and other duties as assigned. Report preparation, file reorganization and maintenance; Conduct safety training during employee orientation; Manage monthly, quarterly and annual inspections including: fire extinguisher assessments, chemical disposal, first aid and respiratory protection compliance; Assist Director in the design and implementation of various training programs; Maintain OSHA log ensuring employee accidents and related injuries are recorded accurately and efficiently as required by law. Bachelor's degree preferred; Minimum of one year experience (1) in an environmental health or safety role is a strong plus. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office — particularly Word, Excel, and Access. Experience with FDNY, OSHA and EPA regulations is a plus.

Scheduling Assistant, Security & Safety
Weekly generation and distribution of overtime for Museum Attendant Guards; Manage requests for guard escort/access for in house and outside contractors; Maintain and organize Security & Safety Operation department forms; Filing and maintenance of Security & Safety's personnel and office files; General secretarial duties (photocopy, fax, email, answering phones, filing etc.); Assist with calculations of overtime and Time & Attendance for Security staff. High school diploma is required, some college is preferred; Strong organizational and administrative skills Computer literate; Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; strong typing and data entry skills.

Sustainability Coordinator, Operational Planning
Reporting to the Director of Operational Analysis, the coordinator will provide support to the Museum's sustainability program by providing strategic, analytical and logistical support in the preparation, documentation and implementation of sustainability initiatives. This position will be responsible for collecting data, interviewing staff, attending meetings, organizing and presenting data and progress indicators, developing implementation plans and acting as a liaison between operational and capital sustainability initiatives; Data gathering and analysis; establish a mechanism for tracking progress and setting benchmarks; Draft and prepare reports and recommendations for review by senior management; Help explore and develop ideas to promote the Museum's sustainability efforts; work with the Director of Operational Analysis to assess opportunities and implement high-priority strategies to minimize waste, energy and water consumption at the Museum; assess and research best practices; Minimum B.A. or B.S. and a minimum of two years experience working with sustainability or the environmental field, preferably at a large institution. General knowledge of operations and practices in a Museum environment is strongly preferred. Effective project management and organizational skills are required.

Web Developer
The Web Developer is responsible for interactive production, application development, and implementing technical requirements for AMNH's public website, including various exhibition sites, special events sites and regularly updated information areas, including the home page, calendar, event pages, and visitor information; implement third-party and open source applications into existing site to improve site functionality; create page templates, code cross-browser compatible XHTML/HTML/CSS/Javascript for site as required; oversee reporting of website traffic and usage statistics; the production of regularly scheduled e-mail marketing communications; other duties as required.

The ideal candidate must possess a B.A. degree; proficiency in website technology; proficiency in hand coding XHTML/HTML/CSS/Javascript; experience in LAMP development environment; experience with WebTrends helpful; experience with Photoshop and Flash helpful; demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills; resourceful and attentive to details; experience in the above.

This is a three-month term position.

Web Producer
The Web Producer is responsible for managing day-to-day content updates and production of new subsections for AMNH's public web site, including temporary exhibitions, permanent exhibition information, special events, and regular updates to site areas such as the home page, event calendar, event pages, and visitor information; oversee third-party designers and vendors and manage assigned projects to completion on schedule and on budget; web producer must be able to organize multiple tasks and priorities while acting as liaison between departments to foster collaboration on various projects; the web producer will oversee the scheduling and production of regularly scheduled e-mail marketing communications. Other duties as required.

The ideal candidate possesses 3-5 years experience in interactive production, web site design, or web content development. Candidate must possess a B.A. degree; proficiency in website production and project management; proficiency in hand coding XHTML/HTML/CSS/Javascript; experience in LAMP development environment; experience with WebTrends helpful; experience with Photoshop and Flash helpful; demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills; resourceful and attentive to details; experience in the above.

This is a three-month term position.
